TIJMAKERS is a pilot that investigates how existing, paved quay walls along the Nieuwe Maas can be ecologically enriched by means of modular tidal pools, made entirely of local and recycled materials. Taking this project as an example of a regenerative design intervention Oskam will expand this analysis into a more general discussion of regenerative design and issues of scale in actually delivering substantial ecological benefits. Pierre Oskam is a designer, researcher and landscape architect. He is co-founder of Urban Reef, with Max Latour. Pierre holds a PhD in Design (2021) and an MSc in Landscape Architecture (2016). In his doctoral research Pierre explored ecological thinking and how it's values can inform design. He is interested in making regenerative design tangible and integrated into urban societies. Oskam founded the Regenerative Futures Lab in Rotterdam, where he prototypes small, circular interventions that catalyse outsized regenerative ripple effects.
